Animal Activity Participation Waiver

Please complete this agreement before taking part in any animal activity at Naylor’s Ark.

Animal activities carry inherent risk. This agreement records informed participation and does not exclude liability that cannot legally be excluded under UK law.

Acknowledgement of risk

Even calm, friendly and well-handled animals may react unexpectedly.

Being bitten, pecked, scratched, kicked, stepped on, butted or knocked over by animals.
Slips, trips and falls on uneven, muddy or wet ground.
Contact with electric fencing, gates and farm equipment.
Exposure to insects, pollen, nettles and other naturally occurring hazards.
Allergic reactions to animals, bedding, hay, straw, feed or environmental factors.
Exposure to bacteria, viruses or other zoonotic diseases that can pass between animals and humans.
Risks associated with fields, paddocks, barns and animal enclosures.
Unpredictable animal behaviour, including sudden movements or noises.

Participant responsibilities

I agree that I will:

Follow all instructions given by Naylor’s Ark staff and volunteers immediately.

Treat every animal with kindness and respect.

Not feed animals unless specifically instructed.

Not enter any enclosure without permission.

Wash my hands thoroughly after animal contact and before eating or drinking.

Wear suitable clothing and sturdy closed-toe footwear.

Supervise any children in my care at all times.

Tell staff immediately about an unsafe situation or injury.

Avoid sudden movements, shouting or behaviour likely to frighten animals.

Health declaration

I have informed Naylor’s Ark of relevant medical conditions, allergies or mobility issues.

I understand participation may not be suitable with a weakened immune system or certain medical conditions.

If pregnant, I understand the additional farm-animal risks and have informed staff before participating.

Naylor’s Ark is a rescue and does not routinely lamb, kid or calve on site. An animal arriving pregnant is managed as a veterinary case and kept away from visitors.

Photography

I consent to photographs and videos being used by Naylor’s Ark for promotional purposes.

I do not consent to photographs or videos being used.

Assumption of risk and liability

I voluntarily choose to participate and accept the inherent risks associated with animal activities. I will take reasonable care for my safety and those accompanying me. To the fullest extent permitted by law, I participate at my own risk and accept responsibility for my personal belongings. Nothing in this agreement excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot legally be excluded.

Children and biosecurity

Parents and guardians remain responsible for children in their care. Children must follow instructions and remain supervised unless taking part in an organised supervised activity.

I will wash or sanitise my hands, stay out of restricted areas, follow footwear-cleaning procedures, and tell staff about recent visits to livestock premises where disease transmission may be a risk.
